Cedar Breaks Bristlecone Pine 2

 

Location: Twenty four miles east of Cedar City, UT.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment: Canon EOS 5D, 16-35 lens, polarizing filter. Shot at f22, 1/8 second set on ISO 50.

Notes: This shot was taken at Spectra Point which is accessed via a trail from the Visitors Center. The hard thing about photographing these trees is that lighting is about the only thing you can work with to alter the picture. That basically means you have to be there when the sky is just right. But at least they hold still, and if you want to come back again sometime in the next thousand years or so, they'll probably still be there. By the way, these are located at about 10,000 feet above sea level. So, if you're and air-breather, better pack some.
