Climber - Indian Creek, Utah

Location: Canyonlands National Park is located in southeastern Utah. From Moab, head south on Highway 191. Roughly 30 miles south you will pass the turnoff to Needles overlook (good place to visit). About 40 miles from Moab you will reach Highway 211. Take that west to the Needles area of the park. Along the way you will pass the Newspaper Rock petroglyphs and a climbing area that includes "Supercrack."

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Turnoff onto Highway 211:

109° 21' 00.90" W

Supercrack:

38° 02 4.90" N
109° 32' 47.80" W

Equipment: EOS 1ds Mark III with 28-300 mm lens (160mm) with polarizer at f 5.6 for 1/80 sec ISO 50.

Digital imaging/manipulation: Exposure adjustment.

Notes: This area along Indian Creek is popular with climbers. There are other rock faces along that canyon that are also used. This was taken at 12:45 at the end of March. This rock face is just west of "Supercrack" along Indian creek.
