Goosenecks Panorama

Location: Goosenecks State Park is located about 65 miles north of Kayenta, AZ in southern Utah. There San Juan River takes a series of sharp turns known as the Goosenecks as it heads into Lake Powell. Head north out of Monument Valley on SR 163 to north of Mexican Hat. A few miles out of Mexican Hat, SR 261 heads west. There will be a sign there for the Goosenecks. From there, the road to the overlook is paved and well marked. There is also a view from Muley Point to the west of that overlook.

37° 10' 30.05" N
109° 55' 38.17" W

Equipment: Canon EOS 5D with 28 -105 lens and polarizing filter mounted on Gigapan Epic Pro. ISO setting 100.

Digital imaging/manipulation: 27 photos stitched in Gigapan software.

Notes: Not far from Monument Valley. It is not possible (as best I can find) to get a full view of the river without doing an aerial photo. You can climb down onto that red triangular area below the overlook but the view really isn't improved. Given a little time, there are several great places to visit in this "neighborhood" including: Valley of the Gods Natl Monument, Mexican Hat, and several ruins.
