Great Hunt Petroglyph

Location: Nine Mile Canyon is located in central Utah close to Price. From Price head south on Highway 6 to Wellington. Just beyond Wellington, turn left on to N 2200 E and follow it northeast until it turns into Soldier Creek Road and eventually, Nine Mile Canyon Road. The Great Hunt petroglyph is about 2 miles past Daddy Canyon. You turn right (south) on Cottonwood Canyon Road and you will find the exhibit on the right at the coordinates below. The parking area for the petroglyph is about 1/8 mile beyond the panel.

Notes: Nine Mile Canyon is about 40 miles long and there are petroglyphs and pictographs along the way. Daddy Canyon seems to have the most, but there are many others around. This one is the best we saw. You will note that there is a running theme in petroglyphs. I don't know what story they were telling, but it always seemed to involve sheep. Then again, they didn't have television. With regard to this pictograph, I'm thinking that the guy on the right of the scene, probably made the petroglyph. His genitals alone are larger than any of the other hunters entire bodies. That's the way I would have drawn it had I been there.
