Kolob Panorama

Location: Northwest of the main part of Zion National Park, the Kolob Unit is located about 20 miles south of Cedar City.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment:  Hasselblad C501 with 50 mm lens and polarizing filter.  Velvia transparency film, ISO 50.

Digital imaging/manipulation: Image scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO at 4800 dpi.  Emulsion artifact removed. "Stitched" in Photoshop CS combining 3 6X6cm photos.

Notes: There is a Northwest route along back roads from the main part of the park to Kolob. It is a nice drive and gives some unique views of Zion from higher elevation at a distance. You'll want a telephoto of about 300 mm focal length for that. Kolob Canyon is an easy visit with expansive views.
