Lower Antelope Canyon 13

Location: Head east out of Page, AZ on Highway 98 as if you were going to the Navajo Power Plant. If you get to the plant, you've gone too far. A few miles out of Page, start looking for a kiosk on the hill on your right (south side of the road). I think it is marked now as Upper Antelope Canyon. About a half mile further is the turn off for Lower Antelope, BIA222. It runs north to the lake. Shortly after turning off you'll see the road to the kiosk on your left.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment: Canon Mark 5D Mark II, 24-105 lens at 28mm with polarizer. Taken at f/22 for 13 seconds.

Notes: Perhaps the prettiest of the slot canyons on the Colorado Plateau. Access is via a steel staircase thay you enter through a 4 foot wide crack in the rock desert floor. The canyon is a little more difficult to negotiate than Upper, but still pretty easy. Those who are clostrophobic may have a little anxiety but you can adjust after a time. CHECK WEATHER BEFORE ENTERING! People are killed almost every year in slot canyons by flash floods. If the canyons flood, there's nowhere to go. Weather over you and to the south is important, as a distant storm still drains into the lake through that area. That said, this is a great place for photographs. Guess that didn't help the clostophobia thing very much, did it? (Fee required)
