Sand Dunes - Monument Valley HDR

Location:  Monument Valley, located in the southeastern part of Utah. It is northeast of Kayenta, AZ and southwest of Mexican Hat, Utah. NOTE: The coordinates below are for Monument Valley Visitors' Center. While some of Monument Valley may be accessed by the public at the Visitors' Center, most areas require that you hire a guide. Prices vary depending upon whether you go with a group as a part of a general sight-seeing tour or smaller photography-oriented tours. Guess which cost more.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment: EOS 5D Mark II with 24-105 lens (@105mm)with polarizer. ISO 50, f22 for 1/4 seconds.

Digital imaging/manipulation: HDR with Photomatrix 4.0. Slight exposure adjustment and sharpening.

Notes: This was taken in the area that is east of the Visitors' Center. It may be accessed only with a guide. Small photographic tours do give you the ability to identify what you want to photograph and go there directly. The quides, who know the area very well, can give you suggestions for other photographs as well. There are several tour options.
