Upper Antelope Canyon

Location: Head east out of Page, AZ on Highway 98 as if you were going to the Navajo Power Plant. If you get to the plant, you've gone too far. A couple of miles out of Page, start looking for a kiosk on the hill on your right (south side of the road). I think it is marked now. Pull in and park, the people there will take you back to the canyon for a fee.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

36° 54’ 13.17” N
111° 24’ 52.96” W

Equipment: Canon AE2 with 28-85 mm lens and polarizing filter.  Velvia transparency film, ISO 50.

Digital imaging/manipulation:  Image scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO at 4800 dpi.  Emulsion artifact removed.

Notes: One of the prettiest slot canyons you can find and it's easily accessed. The floor, while soft sand is flat. Easier to access than Lower Antelope Canyon that is just across the road (north side). CHECK WEATHER BEFORE ENTERING! People are killed almost every year by flash floods. If the canyons flood, there's nowhere to go. Weather over you and to the south are important as a distant storm still drains into the lake through that area. That said, this is a great place for photographs.
