Zapata Falls - Colorado

Location: Great Sand Dunes National Park, souteastern Colorado. It is northeast of Alamosa Colorado. The falls are on BLM land outside the park. For instructions visit the website below. The location of the park is:

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment:  Hasselblad C501 with 50 mm lens and polarizing filter.  Velvia transparency film, ISO 50.

Digital imaging/manipulation:  Image scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO at 4800 dpi.  Emulsion artifact removed.

Notes: One of the newer additions to the National Park System. It has some great photographic opportunities with relatively easy access. The dunes constantly change but remain in the area trapped by the surrounding mountains.
