Maroon Bells Dawn - HDR

Location: From Denver International Airport, Aspen is about 4 hours west. Take I-70 west about 170 miles to CO 82 at Glenwood. Head south to Aspen. This route should usually be open in winter during the ski season. An alternate route in warmer weather leaves I-70 and heads south through Leadville, CO. About 1/2 mile west of Aspen is a turnabout. Maroon Bells Road is the first right turn and heads south about 10 miles to the parking lot. The road closes in winter sometime in November so check in advance. It is paved and an easy trip in the absence of snow or ice.

Equipment: EOS 1Ds Mark III, 16-35 mm lens with graduated neutral density filter. Shot at ISO 50, 12.3 seconds at f 22.

Digital imaging/manipulation: Slight exposure adjustment. HDR with Photomatrix 3.0. Three images done at 1 stop increments. For a descripton of HDR see "About Us."
