Trumpeter Swans - Yellowstone

Location: Yellowstone National Park, January 1987. I can't remember the location well enough for coordinates, but it was shot from the road. The Park Service frowns on "off-roading" and they have the really big snowmobiles with red lights.

Equipment: Canon AE-1, 100-300 lens, polarizing filter with Kodachrome 25.

Digital imaging/manipulation: Image scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO at 4800 dpi.  Emulsion artifact removed.

Notes: We were snowmobiling through the park. Temperatures were down to 22 below in the mornings. As I look at this I can't figure out how it wasn't underexposed because of the bright background. I wasn't smart enough then to compensate for it. Come to think about it, I'm not smart enough now.
