Location:  Make your way to Kanab, UT.  From there head south toward Fredonia, AZ on Highway 11 (about 7 miles).  Follow 89A to the east for roughly 20 miles.  You will start to gain altitude and the road curves to the right.  On the right, toward the top is a sheltered overlook marked as a scenic view.  That’s the place.  If you go back toward Fredonia, keep watching the staircase, there are some nice shots along the way.  Roughly :

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment:  Canon EOS 5D, 100-400 mm lens 1/160 at f 6.3 with polarizing filter.

Digital imaging/manipulation:  Color adjustment, sharpening.

Notes:  We are told that this is one of the few places where the entire Staircase is visible.  At the base lie the chocolate cliffs, then Vermillion, White, Gray, and finally Pink Cliffs.  Roads are all paved and travel is easy if the weather is OK.
