Monument Valley Sunrise

Location: Monument Valley, Utah. This is located just off Highway 163 in southern Utah. It is about 35 miles north of Kayenta, Arizona.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment: Hasselblad C501 with 140-280 mm zoom lens and polarizing filter.  Velvia transparency film, ISO 50.

Digital imaging/manipulation:  Image scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO at 4800 dpi.  Emulsion artifact removed and cropped.  

Notes: This was taken from the Visitors Center at Monument Valley. You can access part of the area on your own, but further expoloration requires that you be accompanied by a Navajo guide. There are places to stay in Kayenta and Goulding's Lodge is just across the road.
