Bridal Veil Falls Twilight Location: Yosemite National Park/Yosemite Valley. Taken in the fall at twilight. On the outbound route out of the valley, there is a pull-off north and west of the falls. It is right by the Merced River. An approximate location of the pull-out would be: Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass. Equipment: Hasselblad C501 with 50 mm lens and polarizing filter. Velvia transparency film, ISO 50. Digital imaging/manipulation: Two images. Film scanned on Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO at 4800 dpi. Notes: I really liked the foreground because of its color, but the sky was gray, flat and cluttered with emulsion artifact. Using Photoshop CS2, the sky was selected and the sky from the second image of a Jeffrey Pine on Sentinal Dome was pasted into the selected area. The two pictures were taken at roughly the same time and within a few miles of each other. For those offended by such manipulation…um…I just made that up. This is exactly how it looked. |
