Convict Lake 6:30 AM

Location: Convict Lake, Eastern California. From Reno, NV head down highway 395 to the southwest into California. You'll pass Mono Lake and about 30 minutes south of there a two mile drive takes you to Convict Lake. It's located on the east side of the highway.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

Equipment: Canon EOS 5D 16-35 plus polarizing lens and graduated neutral density filter to decrease exposure of the sky. ISO 50. This picture was taken the first week in April.

Digital imaging/manipulation:  RAW file given increased saturation, warmth. A few branches were trimmed along the mountains on the left.

Notes: We saw this lake on a granola bar commercial. It is in Mono Valley and is easily accessed from the highway. There are cabins available there. In the area are: Mono Lake, Mammoth Lake, Schulman and Patriach Groves (bristlecone pine forest), Mount Whitney. Bishop, CA is a good place to stay.
