Pilgrimage to Vernal Falls Location: Yosemite National Park. These falls, and farther upstream, Nevada Falls are accessed from the east end of Yosemite Valley. Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass. 37° 43' 36.01" N Equipment: Hasselblad C501 with 80 mm lens and polarizing filter. Velvia transparency film, ISO 50. Digital imaging/manipulation: Image scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Multi PRO at 4800 dpi. Emulsion artifact removed, cropped. Notes: Mist Trail winds its way out of the valley to Vernal, then Nevada Falls. From there it's your choice of destinations. The trail is apaptly named because you always get wet climbing toward vernal, but it's worth the effort. In winter, the trail is often covered by ice. |
